Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum is a visual arts exhibition space committed to the presentation, interpretation, collection, documentation and preservation of contemporary visual arts with a special focus on traditional media. Dedicated to presenting exceptional regional, national and international exhibitions, Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum provides support and advancement to artists world-wide through solo, group and juried exhibitions while promoting educational opportunities within our community.
It has four state-of-the-art theaters and beautiful outdoor entertainment areas that have won international awards. World-class national and international professional touring artists, as well as local performing arts companies and numerous performances by resident companies, perform at the center. The building is magnificent, the acoustics are excellent, the seats are comfortable, and the prices are fair, particularly given the caliber of the performers. The Mesa Arts Center’s goal is to inspire people through diverse, affordable, and relevant arts experiences.
The entire complex’s architecture is predominantly post- modern, with sharp, jagged angles, canted walls, sloping roofs, glass walls, and a color and material palette that reflects the local vernacular. Inspired by a geode, the introverted campus leads pedestrians from the outer concrete walls to a central space of glass, water, and color. Outdoor parks, sunken courtyards, performance areas, water features, stainless steel pergolas, and giant canopies line the Shadow Walk, which runs the length of the campus. 1st Public art has been added to the architecture to link it to the city, in addition to the Shadow Walk.
Mesa Arts Center is also pleased to present Arts in Service, which offers innovative pathways for veterans and service members to use studio arts experiences in achieving their personal goals, whether those goals be seeking a supportive group, stress reduction, working toward general health and wellbeing, or finding a supportive community, thanks to generous sponsorship from The Boeing Company and the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.
Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum (MCA Museum), which is part of Mesa Arts Center, exhibits the best of contemporary art by emerging, nationally and internationally known artists. Artists are supported and advanced at the MCA Museum by solo, group, and juried exhibits. Visitors will enjoy free school and public tours, as well as a comprehensive docent program, thanks to the MCA Museums’ free entry and strong involvement programs.
Concessions at the Mesa Arts Center open one hour before the performance and stay open until the end of intermission. Cocktails, beer, wine, and soft drinks are available, as well as a selection of candy and snacks.
