Misbah Rashid

Attorney

“I believe the law is a tool to be used skillfully and with integrity to help achieve the goals of my clients.”

Misbah is an approachable and compassionate attorney who understands the urgency of her clients. She has a unique background as a Muslim woman attorney, a member of persecuted religious sect and as someone who has worked with people from various cultural, religious and professional backgrounds that allows her to understand the cultural and religious nuances that add value to her ability to advocate for her clients.  Prior to joining Gillespie Shields, Misbah worked for private clients and as a contract attorney focusing on immigration issues such as asylum, family petitions, naturalization, permanent residency and appeals for her clients.  Misbah has also worked on limited family law cases focusing on helping clients achieve a fair solution.

Misbah attended the University of California and received degrees in Environmental Sciences and Criminology, Law & Society. Misbah was on the Dean’s list, on many different research teams and active in university leadership. Misbah went into Urban Planning with top global companies until she decided she wanted to improve the lives of people using the law as a tool. Misbah received her law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School, and did a Visitation at Arizona State University of Law for her last year. During law school Misbah was the Chair of a women’s community organization as well as a mom of two wonderful boys. After graduating from Law school, Misbah became a member of Women in the Law of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and a committee member for the Women’s Refugee Clinic of the Maricopa County Integrated Health Systems. Misbah wanted to take time off her career to enjoy her son’s elementary years while continuing her advocacy efforts with a selective fellowship in Washington D.C., focusing on women’s issues as they relate to religion and national security.  Outside of work, Misbah enjoys hiking and tennis and continues to work with different community organizations as well as the City of Chandler Diversity Committee.
