Grand Canyon University Championship Golf Course

Grand Canyon University Golf Course, previously known as Maryvale Municipal Golf Course is a public 18 hole course located in west Phoenix. The golf course first opened for play back in 1961 and was designed by William F Bell who also created San Diego’s Torrey Pines.

Maryvale Golf Course played to a par-72 and a maximum distance of 6,646 yards for a course rating of 70.7 and a slope rating of 120. The forward tees play to 5,664 yards and a course rating of 71.5 with 113 as its slope ratings.

The Bermuda grass at Grand Canyon University Golf Course is a great place to play during the summer, with its flat and wide fairways. It’s also located near several onsite trees that provide shade from harsh sun rays.

The Grand Canyon University Golf Course offers 37 bunkers and 7 water hazards. The flat landscape is lined with native trees, while the greenside has slightly raised sand traps on either side of it which makes for an exciting game. There are ample spaces off the tee to make up a perfect par-72 course.

The Course has tricky slopes that make it fun for beginners and experts alike. It is also perfect for those who love playing golf with their dogs as the name suggests, visitors can bring their furry friend. There are three different sets of tees on this beautiful track which can be played at 6646 yards/119 slope, 6216 yards/115 slope or 5664 yds./113 slopes from each respective tee box.

On the Grand Canyon University campus is a grass range, short game area with sand bunker, plus two putting greens. There’s also a snack bar/lounge serving hot and cold sandwiches, beverages and other lunch items. 

Yardage markers are provided at 100 yards for shorter holes; 150 & 200 meters on mid lengths holes such as #5 or 14 respectively; while sprinkler heads measure to the center of each green flag marked front middle back hole locations in colors .
