Things to Do in Community Fiesta

Community Fiesta resembles a tiny town in certain ways, with a lengthy sidewalk lined with wonderful restaurants, one-of-a-kind boutiques, and historic landmarks. The neighborhood is full of unique locations to visit and appreciate, from fashionable vintage clothing to home antiques. Here’s a shortlist of our favorites:

1. Mesa Arts Center | 1 E Main St, Mesa, AZ 85201

The Mesa Arts Center is a world-class venue that features four state-of-the-art theaters and stunning outdoor entertainment areas. They host world-class national touring artists as well as local performing arts companies who produce great performances for residents to enjoy year-round.

Mesa Arts Center is one of the most vibrant, innovative art institutions in Arizona. The Museum has 15 exhibitions a year in five stunning galleries, and The Store features art made by Arizona-based artists.  They offer over 1000 classes to their community and host four free festivals every year with a diverse array of performances for all levels.

2. Mesa Arizona Temple | 101 S Lesueur, Mesa, AZ 85204

The Mesa Arizona Temple is the first temple built in Arizona and it has been around for nearly a hundred years. The grounds are home to beautiful cacti as well as two reflecting pools. At Christmas time there are hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights across its facade that light up.

Before the temple was built, many Arizonans traveled to St. George Utah, and were married or sealed for eternity. Due to this large number of bridal parties that continuously crossed state lines on their honeymoon trail, it became known as such among locals in both states.

Visitors from all over have come to this place because it holds great religious significance, with many tourists enjoying the grounds on their visit.

3. Skateland | 7 E Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85210

Skateland is the number 1 place in Mesa not only for birthday parties but also for all types of celebrations. The Roller Cafe features family-friendly roller skating and arcade games, with live DJs playing on both sound systems AND awesome prizes available every day.

Skateland is a roller skating rink that offers an endless variety of games for everyone. Skaters can enjoy it just as much on their own or with friends, and beginners will find tons of resources to get started.

4. Mesa Aquatic Complex | 1630 E Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85204

A stunning aquatic center with a wide variety of features, the Mesa Aquatic Center is one-of-a-kind. It has three diving boards that are each more than 2 meters in height. There’s also an 8-yard lap lane pool available for those looking to get some practice before they try out their stroke on the larger 25 meter long green lanes or over 3meter blue ones down below. The lazy river winds through lush greenery just waiting beneath your feet while you ride it leisurely along its course until reaching Rapids City where waterfalls pour into deep underwater caves offering an escape from everyday life.

Community Fiesta feels like a tiny town, despite being in the city and having a high density of stores,  with a lengthy sidewalk lined with restaurants, shops, and home bric-a-brac, all stacked side by side with almost nothing vacant. Residents can also find spiritual fulfillment at the following places of worship:

1. Christ the King Church | 1551 E Dana Ave, Mesa, AZ 85204

Christ the King Parish Mesa is a Roman Catholic church in Arizona. They are made up of believers who have been called to share their Good News with others by learning, listening, and working together actively for evangelization through prayers, service projects that help out around town, or just meeting needs within the communities at any given moment.

2. Mount Calvary Baptist Church – Mesa | 1720 E Broadway Rd #2403, Mesa, AZ 85204

The Mt. Calvary Baptist Church is the oldest predominantly Black church in Mesa, Arizona and it began as a mission with leadership that was coming from missionaries who commuted several miles each week.  The church began as a small group of Christians meeting under the tree in the front yard where Mrs. McPherson lived with her family, making their home Mesa’s first black permanent resident.

 The name Mt. Calvary Baptist Church is steeped in history, as it was originally founded by Reverend J.B Bell back in 1918 and now stands at a humble beginning with six known Pastors who have led this mission over the years.

3. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints | 2334 E Pueblo Ave, Mesa, AZ 85204

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mesa, Arizona is located in the heart of Mesa. The church provides a place for families to come together and worship God. It has an open-door policy so everyone can feel welcome inside the walls on Sunday mornings. 

Visitors new in town or just looking for a new place to be with family then stop on their weekly meeting. They will be happy to give you more information about themselves, their beliefs, and what they offer as well as answer any questions that you might have about them.

4. New Beginnings Christian Church | 1844 E Dana Ave, Mesa, AZ 85204

New Beginnings Christian Church is a bible-based nondenominational church located in Mesa, Arizona. At New beginnings, they aim to rebuild hope where it’s been damaged or lost by working with those who need spiritual healing – mentally, emotionally, and physically.

New Beginnings Christian Church is a church that believes “in the power of committed believers.” They focus on community efforts, shelter, and food aid among other things. The primary goal for this organization is to give God glory by working together.

5. Mesa Bible Church | 1720 E 8th Ave #2, Mesa, AZ 85204

Mesa Bible Church has been a part of the community for over 45 years. They provide services that equip Christians to do God’s work, namely fulfilling The Great Commission ( Matt 28:19-20 ).

The church is committed to teaching sound biblical doctrine, which includes the practice of godly living. They provide an atmosphere for spiritual growth by encouraging home bible study and personal time each day devoted solely towards devotional reading from God’s Word.

Parks, Schools & Other Points of Interest in Community Fiesta

Community Fiesta is also home to some amazing parks, schools, public libraries, and schools for its citizens to enjoy.  These facilities are all world-class, beautifully maintained, and clean so residents of surrounding communities often visit to enjoy them.  Here’s a short list all located in Community Fiesta:  

1. Pioneer Park | 526 E Main St, Mesa, AZ 85203

Pioneer Park is Mesa’s signature public space, boasting “the mother of all water features” and a draw for youth looking to have fun in the sun. The new playground is the perfect spot for children of all ages, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The stunning tree canopies combined with fun features that weave through it make this one-of-a-kind space.

2. Mesa High School | 1630 E Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85204

Mesa High School is a public high school in Mesa, Arizona that has more than 3,200 students. Mesa High School currently accommodates grades 9–12 as part of Mesa Public Schools. It’s also home to many award-winning programs like the Jackrabbits’ athletics and music department.

3. Sun Valley High School | 1143 S Lindsay Rd, Mesa, AZ 85204

Sun Valley High School is a public charter high school in Mesa, Arizona. It’s operated by The Leona Group and had 813 students at the time of 2009-11 conference alignment from AZ Interscholastic Association as associate members (which included several other Leona Schools).

4. Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum | 1 E Main St, Mesa, AZ 85201

Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum is the exciting visual art exhibition space at Mesa Arts Center. In five stunning galleries, MCA showcases curated and juried exhibitions of contemporary artists with a focus on international talent by emerging or internationally recognized figures in different media like photography, installation work, etc. Visitors can also attend lectures given by significant people across various disciplines including those related to Art History & criticism. They may even get hands-on experience through the volunteer Docent program.

5. Arizona Museum of Natural History | 53 N Macdonald, Mesa, AZ 85201, United States

The Arizona Museum of Natural History is home to over 60,000 objects and 10 thousand historic photos. The museum also has exhibits that cover archaeology, paleontology, geology, art as well other disciplines in its 80,000 square foot space.
